User Review:
I bought the Kia Stonic for a pretty ice
tag of
OKR
4 million Launched by Kia motors at the
end
of 2021, the All new Kia stonic has a 1.4 L
4
cylinder petrol engine that produces 100 HP
and
123 Nm torque that let’s this compact
SUV get
a quick and smooth pickup with an
excellent road Grip to make the handling even
better. Moreover, with such an extraordinary
performance it also is a very fuel efficient
vehicle that does around 12-16 km/l , which
actually is not bad at all.
Toyota Prius has following distinguished features:
1.
Comfort
Being a imported unit of the vehicle, I see no compromises on the
car’s comfort level. Quality
suspension, good quality tires and better road Grip altogether
creates a comfortable and
enjoyable ride.
2.
Safety features
The compact SUV comes with a total of 6 air bags, front and rear
parking sensors and the build
quality is up to the international standards. It also includes
vehicle stability management, hill
start assists, tire pressure monitory system, ISO fixed child seats
anchor points, ABS etc.
3.
Fuel consumption
Although its falls into the category of compact sedan, however an
average of around 12-16 km/l
is nothing less than a surprise for us with such a heavy and broad
vehicle, especially in a country
like Pakistan where most of the consumers are conserved the most
about fuel economy.
4.
Feature loaded
vehicle
Kia Stonic contains almost any feature that a Pakistani buyer could
name. starting from the
Apple car play, steering controls, cruise control, parking sensors,
smart entry and exit,
manual speed limit assistance and much more.
5.
Value for money
Considering everything that comes with the car from the company, I
would say that it’s a car
with a very modern design and
features, however, I think that the car is a bit overpriced based on
the engine size category it falls into. In my opinion a price tag of
approximately 3.5 million PKR
would be a fair tag.
Few Possible improvements
.
1.
Pickup lag
Probably due to some transmission issue the car lags
when accelerated instantly, this also
occurs when the automatic transmissions are shifting
from the first to second gear which is a
hurdle in a smooth and powerful pickup. The company
needs to figure out the issue and
resolve it to avoid getting the vehicle a bad repute in
the market.
2.
Back seat room
Unlike the front room of the car, which is very spacious
and welcoming, the rear room lacks a
lot, especially considering the leg space and for some
tall guys even the head room is not very
practical. So, for this reason the vehicle cannot be
considered a complete family vehicle but
would still work well for small families.
3.
Missing features
In my opinion for such a vehicle, an addition of paddle
shifters would have added much to the
charm. Features like panoramic roof and paddle shifters
were a necessary addition to such
modern and futuristic vehicle.
Attractive features :
1.
Futuristic design
2.
Surprisingly good fuel economy
3.
Fully loaded features
4.
Excellent road grip
Competitors:
1.
Honda city 1.5
A comparison based on the engine category exists,
however, Honda city is a sedan and lacks a
lot specially comfort, modern features, sunroof etc.
although Honda city is at much low price
point but in comparison Kia Stonic is a much better
option based on a lot of things like
comfort, features etc.
Price: Rupees 3.9
million
2.
Toyota Yaris 1.5 ATIV X
After ruling the Pakistani market for decades, Toyota’s sedans are
still excelling but in
comparison, they don’t have much to offer considering the modern era
apart from comfort
and reliability. That could be a solid base for the success of Kia
stonic in the market as now
the consumer behavior is changing,
and market demands new technology.
Price: Rupees 3.5 million
3.
Changan alsvin
Alsvin was launched not long ago in the compact sedan
category by Changan in the Pakistani
market. It has a decent appearance but in comparison to
Kia Stonic, it’s not as attractive and is
still in its testing phases. Although, it has generated
sales in the market but has only captured
only a small share in the market and the availability of
its parts is still an issue. Moreover,
Stonic is more feature loaded and has a more futuristic
design which to me makes it much
more attractive.
Price: Rupees 3.4 million
